THE BLUEPRINT CLEANSE REVIEW

Hi everyone! I’m so excited to share my review of the Blueprint Cleanse with you! It’s a 3-day juice cleanse designed to give your digestive system a break and flush toxins out of your system.

I treated my body pretty horribly over these last two months and I hope to start the new year off by sort of setting the “reset” button. I seem to do this every year but it’s been so much worse after having Hudson. It’s a lot harder for me to find time to work out (excuses, I know), so it’s also harder to strike some balance during the busy, cookie-filled months of November and December. At one point, I think I felt me teeth hurt because I was eating so much sugar. True story. Three days of high-quality fruit and vegetable juice to kick my butt back into gear sounded like a great idea!

Four years ago, I tried to DIY the blueprint cleanse. I found out that I spent just as much money on produce, and that it took way too much time and effort to juice all of it myself. I only ended up making it 2 days that way. That’s why I decided to just order it this time when it was 30% off right after the new year.

One of the reason’s I like Blueprint is because the juices are all organic and they give you choices when it comes to how intense of a cleanse you want to do. I chose the mid-level or the “foundation cleanse”.

I chose to start on this past Thursday. So my pre-cleanse diet had to start on Monday. To get the most out of the cleanse and to prepare your body to only consume juice for 72 hours, you need to cut out a lot. I only ate raw veggies, fruits, nuts and seeds for 3 days. The day I ordered the cleanse, Blueprint sent me an email with instructions and tips. I pretty much followed their suggestions when it came to what to eat on those three days before. Fruit for breakfast, salad for lunch, salad for dinner again.

On the day before my cleanse, the box showed up on my doorstep.

18 juices, packed in a cooler full of ice. They suggest you get them into the refrigerator as soon as possible.

I found it was really easy to just line them up in order in one of the drawers of the fridge. The juices come labeled 1-6. You start with 1 in the morning which is a green juice, and end with 6 at the end of the day which is a protein packed cashew milk.

For me, I’ve worked it out that I have a juice about every three hours, with the last one being 2 hours before I go to bed.

I weighed myself the day I started. I wasn’t looking forward to this. I hadn’t weighed myself since probably around Halloween. Yikes. It wasn’t pretty. That’s about the same time I stopped working out and started eating like crap. I really did gain the 10 lbs I thought I had.

DAY 1:

2 a.m. – Juice 1. Green juice. Not too bad! I am one of those people who really doesn’t mind green juice though. Feeling pretty good after drinking it. Pressed green juice has always given me a nice natural shot of energy. Not giving up my one cup of black coffee. Can’t. Do I need to remind you that I wake up before 2 a.m.? I’m adding a pinch of baking soda to my coffee though to take down the acidity level during the cleanse.

5 a.m. – Juice 2. Pineapple Apple Mint. This one is really good and refreshing. Not really that hungry. It’s taken me about 45 minutes to get through it.

7:30 -juice 3. Another green juice. This one was hard to choke down. I think maybe it was the parsley taste? For some reason it tastes worse than it did this morning.

10:15 -juice 4. Spicy lemonade. So good! Feeling sort of energized and “light”.  Not feeling very hungry but also trying not to think about real food.

12:30 – juice 5. Another green juice. Driving home from work. Not too bad. Still not feeling very hungry right now, but starting to worry about how hard this might be for another 2 days.

3:00 – juice 6. This is the last juice of the day – a blueberry cashew milk. This one is really good. It’s much thicker and has some substance to it. I was starting to miss real food once I got home from work. This is when I usually make some type of hot dinner, especially on a really cold day like today. After having the cashew milk, I’m feeling much better.  Can’t stand the thought of downing any more juice tomorrow but hopefully  that will change by morning.

DAY 2:

2:30 a.m.  – juice 1. Green Juice. I feel good today, really good. Energized, a clear head, excited for another day. I weighed myself first thing this morning. Down almost a lb and a half.

5:00 a.m. – juice 2. PAM. There is candy scattered all over the news desk in front of me. My co anchor is eating m&m’s… gahhhhh. I can do this!

7:30 a.m – juice 3. Green Juice. It’s really not that bad.

10 a.m. – juice 4. spicy lemonade. Reminds me of the ‘Master Cleanse’. How do people only drink this for extended periods of time? Feeling good right now. Not hungry yet.

12:30 – juice 5. Green Juice driving home from work again.

2:30 p.m. – juice 6. This is when it gets hard again. I wasn’t hungry all day until now, when I usually have dinner. It’s not a terribly hungry feeling but just like I really want food. The cleanse does give you a few cheats like a quarter of an avocado or a few cucumber slices if you feel like you really need to eat something. I’m trying to stick it out though.

DAY 3:

Woke up and weighed myself this morning. Down a little over a pound again. I had a really hard time falling asleep last night, then Hudson woke me up at 3:30 on a Saturday morning, uuggghhh. I think I must be feeling some detox symptoms because my head hurts and I almost feel like I have a hangover. I’m pretty sure this is my body detoxing

The rest of the day went pretty much like Day 2. I had all of my juices in order, plus my coffee with a pinch of baking soda. I tried to drink more water today to keep the headache at bay. I think it helped. I know it’s important to make sure you are drinking a lot of water during the cleanse. I also had two cups of herbal tea today and that seemed like a good treat.

I didn’t really feel hungry all day. I went to the grocery store excited to get food for the healthy raw/vegan recipes I’m making to ease out of the cleanse.

I had a much easier time sleeping tonight.

RESULTS:

Woke up on the morning of Day 4 feeling good! I feel light and, as expected, my stomach feels flat.

Final weight loss – 3.3 lbs over 3 days. I wish I would have weighed myself on Monday morning, when I started the pre-cleanse diet. I probably lost a little more over the entire week. Is a lot of this water weight? Probably. I gained half a lb back the day after I started eating raw veggies and fruit again (yesterday). I’m going to continue eating clean and whole foods though so I may be able to maintain some of the weight loss. I’ll update this post in a few weeks to let you know.

I was really disappointed with one thing. I never got the ‘first day’ and ‘last day’ emails with further instructions I was told I would get from Blueprint. I have emailed the company about this and haven’t heard back yet.

Overall, I’m really happy with the results. I’m so much more mindful of what I’m putting into my body now. I had gotten in the bad habit of eating a lot of things I knew I shouldn’t. I’ve completely kicked all of those sugar cravings I was having around the holidays. I’m actually craving vegetables and healthy food. I have more energy. This is exactly what I needed to sort of ‘reset’ my body.

If your goal is just to loose weight, I don’t think this would be the best way to go about it. You have to be pretty committed to eating healthy afterward to really make it worth it. If your goal is to jump start a healthier routine, then I think this is a great way to do it! I feel motivated, energized and ready to get back on track.
