I TRIED TRUNK CLUB…

(I was not paid for this review, nor did I receive anything for free)

You may have noticed in the last few years that you can pretty much have anything you like shipped to you in a monthly subscription box. It’s a glorious invention – because you don’t have to leave your house (hello internet shopping). Most of these boxes are tailored to your personal taste, which also cuts out a lot of time spent browsing.

I’ve tried my fair share of subscription boxes – some I loved and some just didn’t win me over. When I heard about Trunk Club, Nordstrom’s style box service, I was instantly intrigued. It was a place I already liked to shop and I knew the quality of the clothing would be good. Nordstrom has a reputation for impeccable customer service, so I trust and like them. That was important to me!

Once I signed up, I filled out the style profile with all of my sizes and preferences. It was pretty detailed and even asked me to look at a few actual outfits and choose which I would like to wear. It also asked me what I wanted to spend on each item. I went the cheaper route for most things, but said that I would spend a little more on sweaters, jeans and shoes for good quality.  Once I was done I was matched with a stylist (Anna) who I could start chatting with right away. She asked me whether I liked to wear my clothes more fitted or loose (I liked both). She also asked what prints I liked to wear (florals, animal, plaid and stripes) and what items I was currently needing in my wardrobe (big sweaters, a good pair of jeans, dresses to wear with my over the knee boots). After a few days of chatting back and forth, she put together a trunk for me and send a link for me to preview it and take out any items I didn’t want her to send. I gave feedback on all the items, and removed 2 because I already owned similar items. She added a few more items that would be a surprise to me, and shipped me trunk off! It arrived in a few days, and I immediately opened it and tried everything on.

Now let’s get to the outfits! I’m going to let you know what I thought of each item she sent, along with sizing and price. Here we go…

BP Windowpane Print Blanket Scarf: This was one of the items that was a surprise to me and I’m so glad she threw it in there! Such a cute light weight scarf to transition into fall with. I really like the color scheme of this and the fringe around the edges. (price: $19)

Topshop Bell Sleeve Split Back Sweatshirt:  This is such a cute top and has a lot of elements that I’m a huge fan of – an open back and flared sleeves. The fit was just a little big on me that it kind of didn’t work. I’m wearing a size 6, which is my usual size, but I think some topshop sweaters and shirts are designed to be oversized and I find I like them better if I size down. (price: $70)

Madewell 10-inch High Rise Ripped Skinny Jeans (Ruth): I absolutely love these jeans. I had never tried Madewell jeans before and I couldn’t believe how amazing these were once I slipped them on! I told my stylist that I like a high waist on my jeans and the rise on this pair is absolutely perfect. They are really soft with a bit of stretch. Super flattering and still hold their shape well. I also really like the distressing on the knees and the rough hem on the ankles. I’m wearing a size 28. (price: $135)

Madewell Loopy Fringe Raglan Sweater: I love a good white sweater and this one is no exception. The fringe is super cute and the chunky knit makes it feel really cozy. I can tell it’s very well made too. Just beautiful! I’m wearing a size medium, so it’s not too oversized. (price: $88)

Madewell Retro Ripped Bootcut Crop Jeans: Another success in the jean department! I would have never picked these out for myself but I was totally in love with them after I tried them on. They have a really high rise and make your waist look super small. I love the distressing and the cropped boot cut that shows off your shoes. The color of these is called Ecru – it’s not quite white so I’m thinking they will be perfect for fall. I’m wearing a size 28 and these feel like they run a tad bit bigger than the other pair. The waist is a bit loose already and gaps out in the back. These are going to be REALLY hard to send back – but I’m in the process of losing the weight I put on this summer (ugh) and I don’t think these will fit five lbs from now. I may go back for them in a smaller size later on.  (price: $135)

J Crew Ruffled Sweater: I love everything about this sweater. She sent me a size small and the fit is perfect. It hits at just the right spot on your waist to be really slimming. Ruffles are so big this year and I seriously can’t get enough of them! I want to get this in all of the other colors! The only reason that I’m not keeping this is because J Crew actually has it on sale this weekend for Labor Day – so I’m going to snag it for 30% off. (price: $79)

BP Sweater Dress: This is one of my favorite things in the trunk! I love the cut out neck and the style of this sweater dress. It’s really comfortable and flattering on – plus it goes perfect with my over the knee boots. This one actually comes in a few colors too and I kind of want ALL of them now! (price: $49)

Free People Low Tide Cardigan:  I asked for a big, chunky, cozy cardigan and she delivered! I’ve actually looked at this cardigan online before too. It’s totally my style. I pretty much live in cardigans over the fall and winter months. The only reason I couldn’t see myself keeping this is because it’s a little too similar to a cardigan I already have and I can’t justify it for the price.  (price: $128)

Topshop Ruffle Skater Dress in Liberty Fabric: This is another one of the dresses she sent to be paired with my over the knee boots. Ugh – it’s absolutely gorgeous. I love the open back and cutouts on the sides. I also love how it looks with my chocolate brown boots. The only downsides to this dress is that it is made out of cotton, so the material doesn’t feel like it would work in all seasons. This would have been perfect, had it been in a heavier flowy material. (price: $110)

So now you have seen all of the outfits! My trunk came on Wednesday and the directions said I had 5 days to keep the clothes before I scheduled my pickup of the trunk with everything I want to send back. I scheduled that pickup for Friday morning (this morning) because of the holiday weekend coming up. I’m only sending back a few things.  I honestly loved it all, but I just couldn’t keep it all!

In the end- I would highly recommend Trunk Club! I’m going to keep doing it and I’m super excited to schedule my next trunk. I think it’s – by far – the best style box service I’ve tried!
