Cozy and Rustic Kitchen Island

There are a few “rules” I tend to follow when styling any space in my house. Work in groups of three, use varied heights and mix textures and tones. Styling my kitchen island was no exception! I’m super excited to be partnering with of my my favorite stores (like on the planet) for today’s post. I’m showing you how I styled my cozy and rustic kitchen island plus giving you my tips to use when styling your own home!

Many of the items I’m using in this space are ones that I picked up on recent trips to The Peddler. (you’ll find all of the sources at the bottom of this post)

I discovered The Peddler when we first went to Ohio’s Amish Country this past fall and well, the rest is history. You can now count me as one of their biggest fans. The family-owned shop is packed to the brim with the most beautiful home decor. It’s like walking into one of my dreams ha! I always leave feeling truly inspired and usually with a car full of shopping bags.

On this latest trip, I picked up the perfect rustic potted pine tree to use in the center of my island. I really wanted a large piece that made a statement but kept the feel super natural. This tree was exactly what I had been searching for! It’s absolutely gorgeous and very realistic looking. I love the textured pot too.

Groups of Three

When styling any space, I try to work in groupings of three. Using odd numbers is much more aesthetically pleasing in most vignettes than even numbers of items. Try this when placing your decor on your own kitchen island!

Varying Heights

I also make sure to use items that are different heights to make sure the eye can move up and down. If you don’t have a ton of variation in the height of the decor you are using, try propping some of it up on risers! This white chippy wood riser is also from The Peddler. It works perfectly here on the island but would also be great for a dining table centerpiece or in a hutch!

Mixing Textures and Tones

When I decorate in my home – I love mixing natural textures. Think wood, metal, glass, iron. Here I pulled in some mercury glass bulbs from the peddler to contrast the natural wood of the little trees (also from The Peddler).

I hope you enjoyed seeing this space! My kitchen has become one of my favorite places to decorate in my house. If you are planning a trip to Ohio’s Amish Countrywhich you absolutely should – definitely stop at The Peddler. You can also shop online and if you see something on their instagram that isn’t online, they will ship! Just message them!
