It’s another Trunk Club try on (holiday edition)! If I had known about Trunk Club in previous years, it would have really made my holiday outfit planning go a lot easier, haha! My stylist reached out to me at the beginning of the month and asked if I needed anything special for the holidays, so of course I enlisted her help!
Basically – it’s a style box service from Nordstrom. You keep what you want, and then send the rest back. Super easy, convenient and fun! To read all about how Trunk Club works, check out my first review here.
This time, I was looking for a sequin skirt, teddy bear coat, anything velvet, and just some fun extras for the holiday season. Let’s run through what my stylist sent!
J Crew – One Shoulder Jumpsuit: I am actually in love with this piece. A black jumpsuit is always a good staple to have in your closet, and this one is my favorite one I’ve ever put on. The cut and details on it are just so beautiful and classic. J Crew is one of my favorite brands (probably my all time favorite) and my stylist knows that! This one is definitely a keeper. (Size: 4 – Price: $148)
J.O.A – Velvet Wrap Top and Skirt Set: This is a really cute set, but hanging naturally on me, I felt that it may have overwhelmed my frame a bit. I’m only 5’4, so I think this one would look better on someone who is taller. I love the ribbed velvet fabric and I think I would wear these two pieces separately more than I would together. (TOP SIZE: small – PRICE: $69) (SKIRT SIZE: Small – PRICE: $86)
Topshop Sweater: This is a beautiful oversized ribbed sweater. It’s also super soft and cozy. I think it hit me at a weird length where it was too long to be a normal sweater (too much fabric to tuck in) and it wasn’t long enough to wear over leggings. This has been my struggle with so many longer sweaters! (SIZE: 6 – PRICE: $75)
J Crew – Teddy Faux Fur Coat: I have been eyeing this coat online for a while now and I was upset when it sold out so fast! I was equally as surprised when my stylist managed to slip it into this trunk! I wanted to love it, and I still kind of do, but the particular coat runs so big, that I think I would have needed to size down to a size zero to like the fit. It’s also not as heavy as I had imagined, so I think it would have been better for fall. (SIZE: 4 – PRICE: $178)
Madewell – Star Earrings: These are really cute oversized studs, especially for the holidays! They are vintage gold, which is really pretty. Not much to say about these, other then I like them! (PRICE: $28)
J Crew – Double Bow Sweatshirt: This is a really cute little sweatshirt and I love anything with velvet bows. I think I would have liked this more if it was a sweater, instead of a sweatshirt. I just found the fabric to be a bit more stiff than I wanted. Either way, I actually love the way it looks! Velvet bows for the win…always. (SIZE: xs – PRICE: $70)
BLANKNYC – Sequin Faux Leather Miniskirt: Loving the leather and sequin mix on this skirt! It’s really festive and unique for the holidays. I don’t think I’ve seen a skirt quite like this – with the mix of textures. The detail is really beautiful and kind of hard to capture in mirror selfies (lol). The skirt looks absolutely amazing standing up, but I wasn’t super comfortable sitting down in it. I am pretty sure that’s how I’ve felt about most sequin skirts I’ve tried though. (SIZE: 27 – PRICE: $89)
Topshop Cut and Sew Sweater Dress: This dress is SO SOFT. Seriously…the softest. That was definitely my first reaction when I pulled it out of the trunk. Putting it on – it’s super comfortable. I love that it ties around the waist and allows you to define your shape a bit more. Just a great little dress (especially with boots). (SIZE: 4 – PRICE: $45)
Topshop – Check Frill Waist Mini Skirt: I wanted to love this skirt, because it looked so cute on the model, but it is about two sizes too small on me! This brand runs really weird sometimes, and I find that their skirts run especially small. I would really like to try this one in a larger size. It would be so cute for the holidays! (SIZE: 4 – PRICE: $65)
Final Thoughts: The J Crew jumpsuit was my favorite piece in here, and because it is pricier, I’m really narrowing down what I keep from this one. I think to get such a beautiful wardrobe staple like that is so exciting and I’m willing to spend a little more because I know I will wear it for years.
I’m still really loving Trunk Club. I think it’s such a great idea for the holidays, or anytime that you are shopping for a specific event. I have a lot of tropical traveling happening in the new year, so you better believe I’ll be hitting my stylist up for some vacation trunks!
