Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Picks

It’s that time of year again when we can all pretend it’s fall and shop for cozy sweaters and boots, whilst dreaming about falling leaves and pumpkin-everything (you know – while it’s 85 degrees outside). The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale opened to the public today! Each year, it opens  exclusively to cardholders for over a week until public access begins. That early access period has become so popular that many hot items will sell out the first morning of the sale. Trust me – it’s nuts.

I got a Nordstrom card last summer just so that I could shop the sale early! It’s a great way to add some wardrobe staples to your closet for far less than you would  normally spend. Brand new season items are heavily discounted – which almost never happens outside of this big sale.

I want to share with you some of the things I’ve ordered and loved (others still haven’t shipped yet) with sizing and fit info. I’m also showing you  some favorites that I was able to snag last year that are back again!

But first – some tips for the sale:

  • If something you love is sold out in your size, don’t give-up! Keep refreshing the page throughout the day and it will likely be restocked as returns are mailed in. You have to move quick though and snag it before someone else does. I’ve been able to order a lot of items this way! The sale lasts through 8/5, so there is still plenty of time for returns to come in.
  • Make a wishlist (on your nordstrom account) of all the items you are loving, so that you can quickly move them to your bag as they come back in stock.
  • Nordstrom makes online returns super easy and hassle free. They included a paid shipping label that you can just slap onto the box your order came in and send it right back. This is one of the reasons I’ve always loved shopping this sale, because I do end up sending a good bit back when it doesn’t fit or I decide it’s a total miss!

BlankNYC Moto Jacket: I LOVE THIS JACKET. I actually didn’t even realize the hardware was rose gold until I took it out of the box! I love that even more than the gold that I thought I was getting – LOL! This is truly the most comfortable (faux) leather jacket I’ve ever tried on. It’s not stiff like a lot of them are. The inside is lined with what feels like a sweatshirt (like the removable hood) and super cozy. I’m wearing a small and I would say it runs pretty tts. Awesome price for a jacket that looks and feels VERY high quality. I really want it in the mushroom and green colors now.

Spanx Faux Leather Leggings: These are A MUST HAVE! I bought mine a few years ago at full price and they were worth every penny. They look amazing, and suck you in everywhere just like spanx do (only way more comfortable). They have a nice high waist and a matte finish. Seriously so perfect.  Wearing a size M, I think these run a little small. If you are in between sizes, I would suggest sizing up. I bought the moto version last year in a small and I ended up selling them because they weren’t as comfortable and I never wore them!

(wearing last year’s Bp. plaid shirt above – it’s a bit longer than this years version)

Topshop Cardigan: Wearing the rose color here which is SO pretty! The pink and white feel much softer to me than the grey one (maybe I’m crazy).

Bp. Lace trimmed Camisole: Wearing a size small. Love these – such a great piece to wear under cardigans or jackets! The white and black are must haves. These are hot sellers every year, so you really have to snag them early or keep stalking them!

Steve Madden Sock Booties: So in love with these sock booties. They really elongate your legs in this nude color with the pointed toe. The chunky block heel is sturdy and comfortable to walk in. I think these are such a good buy and definitely a staple, especially in brown or the black!

Bp. Plaid Shirt: I bought 3 of these shirts last year and wore them a TON. This year’s version is shorter in length and a tiny bit more fitted. This yellow color is gorgeous and I’m glad I stepped out of my comfort zone and ordered it! So many gorgeous colors in this shirt. I just ordered the gorgeous teal one too!

Good American High Waist Skinny Jeans: These did not work out for me at all. I’ve heard this brand runs big and to size down but I should have ordered my usual size in these. They were super tight and the waist was pretty small (size 2). I just didn’t love the fit of them. They did feel extremely soft – almost like leggings though. What I found to be super weird and kind of annoying is that the stitching on them is a different color than what is advertised on the website! Definitely going back…

Topshop Cardigan: Wearing the grey version here. This cardigan is meant to be oversized but it really runs big. I would say size down two sizes from your normal size. I’m wearing the 4 but I probably would have liked the 2 better.

Bp. Lace trimmed Camisole: Wearing a size small. Love these – such a great piece to wear under cardigans or jackets! The white and black are must haves. These are hot sellers every year, so you really have to snag them early or keep stalking them!

Lush Ribbed Dress: I love how versatile this is. So easy to dress up or down.  It definitely runs a little big. I’m wearing a size small and it’s not all that fitted around the waist. I love it with a shirt tied around the waist!

Leith Sock Booties: Totally loving the stripe on these. One of my favorite pairs of booties! Comfy to walk in, just wish the ankles were a bit more fitted.

Good American Good Waist Jeans:  I am OBSESSED with these jeans! This pair definitely runs big and I would have actually needed to size down another size (i’m wearing a 4), but I got nervous after the first pair of Good American jeans I tried from the sale that ran small (it seems those are the exception). These are super comfy and the rise is perfect. Even though these are a little big, the waist band doesn’t gap at all. That’s pretty amazing. I’m going to be stalking the site for a size 2, so fingers crossed I can find it.

Topshop Cardigan: Same as the two above, just in the cream color. It’s super pretty and has more depth to it than you can see in the pics. It’s almost a white and cream mix.

Shop all of my favorites from the sale below! If there is anything you’ve already gotten that you love, I want to know! Please comment and give me your thoughts!
