Happy Halloween, friends! I’m sharing the second part of our Halloween shoot with you today! A much creepier take, but I love how this whole look came together. I think this would be a really simple last minute costume to throw together if you can find a simple white dress and some creepy dolls (I borrowed them from a halloween-obsessed friend).
We’re getting ready to brave the rain and take Hudson trick-or-treating, and I’m making my witch’s brew now. Scroll to the end of this post for the recipe to my favorite warm drink to make on Halloween!
I had so much fun shooting these halloween looks with Laurie and Sam! It gave us a chance to really get creative and do something out of the ordinary. You can see more of the photos in Laurie’s blog post too!
For the past couple of years on Halloween, I’ve made a “witch’s brew” spiced wine that is sooooo good on a cold night. I’ve done it a few different ways, depending on how prepared I am. In a pinch, you can buy spiced wine at the store and just heat it up in a crock pot or simmer it over the stove. It’s really good if you take a bit more time and simmer it with your own spices though! This is one of my favorite recipes I’ve used:
Mulled Red Wine
- 1 bottle red wine (zinfandel, merlot or cabernet sauvignon)
- 4 cups apple cider
- 1 orange (zest and juice)
- 1/4 cup honey
- 4 whole cloves, 2 cinnamon sticks, 3 star anise
Pour ingredients into a crock pot and stir. Heat on low until warm, 30 minutes to 1 hour.
