Finally – I get to blog about my favorite topic…wine! I have been wanting to try some type of wine subscription box or club for a while now, but I will admit, I am very picky when it comes to wine. I learned to appreciate good wine early on and there’s no turning back after that. I actually took my 21-year-old sister to a wine tasting a few weeks ago and she made several references to Franzia (LOL) but was so excited to be trying different types of wines! I feel like that was me with this Hello Fresh wine box. It definitely got me to step out of my comfort zone and try wines that I would never have picked out for myself. Read on to see if I actually liked them…
We’ve been using the Hello Fresh meal service (click here to get $40 off your first order) for a few weeks now and I really like it (review on that to come later). They kept sending these offers with our meal boxes for a discount on your first wine box and I thought, why not give it a try? The promo code was really good – $45 off your first box. So we got 6 bottles of wine for around $45. We signed up for the white wine box, which includes various white wines. Even though I like a lot of different types of wine (mostly dry), I typically drink white during the summer.
These are the six wines that were sent for the white wine plan in July. My favorite of them was the Cloudhopper Pinot Gris, which I would have never tried otherwise. I actually just searched it online and ordered three bottles of it to have in our wine fridge. That alone makes this whole box worth it! It’s a ton of fun to try new wines and discover what you like and dislike. The Fantaisie Gewerztraminer was also really interesting and an unexpected favorite. I expected it to be super sweet but it wasn’t and was actually very enjoyable (while totally out of my comfort zone).
My least favorite was the Pinot Grigio (hated it) and then the Chardonnay – which came as no surprise because I am very particular about the type of Chardonnay I like.

I asked about a discount code for the wine box and the customer service rep that I talked to said that hadn’t launched one yet. So it seems that the best way to get your first wine box at a discount is to try out the meal service (totally worth it) first.
